Lester And Sox Get Pounded By Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays continued their dominance of the Boston Red Sox on Saturday as Evan Longoria and company compiled 17 hits through nine innings in order to secure a 14-5 victory over the Sox.
Jon Lester (2-3) couldn’t find the mark against the Rays, especially Longoria, as the 25-year-old southpaw pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up 10 hits and eight runs while striking out six.  Tampa Bay’s third-basemen went 2-for-4 with a homerun and five RBIs to expand his league lead in RBIs to 44.
Rocco Baldelli went 2-for-5 with a homerun for the Sox but it wasn’t enough against Scott Kazmir and the Rays as Tampa’s lefty recorded his fourth win of the season.
Tampa Bay will look to win its seventh straight with Matt Garza on the mound tomorrow night against Boston’s Josh Beckett.

Bruins Skating On Thin Ice

Hurricanes Have Boston Bruins Against The Ropes

The Boston Bruins skated through the first round without any obstacles, so what suddenly has the Bruins facing a 3-1 series deficit in the second round?
Well, the forecast called for Hurricanes and that’s just what the Bruins find themselves in right now.
Needing to win three straight games in order to make it to the Eastern Conference finals, the Bruins must rely upon what got them into the playoffs.
Tough nose defense. Good Goaltending. Heady play.
There is a thought that in the playoffs you need one of two things to prevail.  Timely plays.  Hot goaltending.  The Bruins have lacked both in the last three games when their opponent has capitalized on both.  So can the Black and Gold turn it around in time to keep the season going?
Yes, if they play like they can.
Boston hosts Carolina at the TD Banknorth Garden on Sunday as Claude Julien and the B’s hope that a Game 5 turn around will swing the momentum back over to the Black and Gold.

Rafer Alston Suspended For Slapping Incident

Alston’s Actions Leave Magic Without Their Starting Point Guard
The NBA league offices decided that Rafer Alston’s slap of Eddie House during Game 2 warranted a one game suspension.
I mean who wouldn’t get frustrated when an opponent hits three after three in your face?
Houses gloating or taunting is a mute point in this case as the Celtics sharp-shooter scored 30 points for the C’s off of the bench by going 4-for-4 from behind the arc, which technically warranted all the talking in the world.
Luckily for House and the Celtics, the Magic will be without their starting point guard for Game 3 because of House’s somewhat big mouth and Alston’s somewhat big mistake. Alston’s slap of House’s head came after the Celtics guard drained a three-pointer from the right side in Boston’s 112-94 rout of the Magic.
Without Alston, Stan Van Gundy and the Magic are left with Anthony Johnson as their starting point guard. Game 3 will be play on Friday night at Amway Arena.

My recent trip to Fenway

Recently went to a game with a couple of buddies.

We had a good time until they forced me to drink too much beer.

I ended up a little crooked in my chair. Had a good time though!

The former Red Sox slugger faces a suspension of 50 games as the penalty is expected to be announced later on Thursday.  The earliest date Ramirez could return from his suspension is July 3.

The times reported that Ramirez is expected to say the positive test results were a result of medication received from a doctor for a personal medical issue. Full story.
