This is the day we’ve been waiting for, Chowdaheadz! There is a bill going through the Statehouse right now that could make the Quahog (nickname for Clam) the official shellfish of the Bay State!
The word Quahog (pronounced Co-Hog) is derived from the Native American term for my species. The movement was started over 2 years ago by 7th graders in Taunton, Mass. Thanks to the kids in Taunton for getting the ball rolling! Let’s hope the State lawmakers get this one right.
Christian Bale has won the supporting-actor Golden Globe for his role as Dicky Eklund, the half-brother of Lowell boxing great Micky Ward, in The Fighter. In accepting the award, Bale thanked Ward and Eklund and the city of Lowell. He also thanked Lowell police Sgt. Mickey O’Keefe, who was Ward’s trainer and played himself in the movie.
