Bruins Look Good Despite Loss

The Bruins may not have gotten the win against the New York Rangers, but there were plenty of positives to take away from Saturday’s game at the TD Garden. Boston was neck & neck with New York for 60+ minutes of hockey, until Andrew Ference was handed a 5 minute major & game misconduct 2 minutes into overtime. Thanks to several good saves from Tuuka Rask the Bruins almost killed the penalty to force a shootout, but the Rangers knocked in a scrappy goal with less than 4 seconds to go in the OT period. Boston lost because of a bad penalty and a fluky goal at the last second. And they are number 1 in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins are showing signs of being human by losing a handful of games in the last two weeks, but they still look like the League’s most complete team from where I’m sitting.

Resilient Bruins Score 4 In The 3rd To Demolish Devils

The Boston Bruins showed the heart that won them a Stanley Cup last year during Thursday night’s comeback win against the New Jersey Devils. After being stoned by Marty Brodeur all evening, the B’s came out firing in the 3rd period. Andrew Ference fired a rocket off the post and in to tie the game, then Nathan Horton & Gregory Campbell scored 35 seconds apart to take an widen the lead. Chris Kelly dumped in an empty netter to add insult to injury as your Boston Bruins showed exactly what they are made of in another signature win. Never giving up, the B’s were able to turn it on when it mattered most. Maybe the return of Brad Marchand (who was relatively quiet in this one) gave the Black & Gold their swagger back after a mini slump in which they lost 3 of 6 games following the controversial loss to Vancouver. But more so, it seemed like the resilient attitude that this Bruins team has become known for manifested itself on the ice in New Jersey. Games like this keep Stanley Cup repeat chatter alive in Beantown.

The Squirrel Returns

Brad Marchand will be back in the Bruins lineup on Thursday night to take on the New Jersey Devils after serving a 5 game suspension for table-topping Sammi Salo. Many Boston fans are still ticked over the length of his suspension, but most importantly Black & Gold supporters are ecstatic to have him back. The guy they call “Squirrel” is no stranger to controversy so don’t expect the suspension to alter his style of play: Marchand will be his usual, chippy self. The B’s could use a boost after losing 3 of their last 6 games so hopefully the feisty squirrel provides that spark.

Shawn Thornton Is The Coolest Dude On Ice

Shawn Thornton has to be the coolest player in the NHL. Thornton always sticks up for his teammates, punches like a seasoned UFC Fighter and even shows the ability to dangle – scoring with a nifty backhand toe drag on a penalty shot against the Jets on Tuesday night. Just as impressive as his hockey skills: his personality – if you haven’t seen the video of Thornton manhandling the Vancouver journalist who called him out, it’s a must watch. The Bruins are lucky to have a guy like Thornton on the team: a seasoned vet who can do it all.

Unbeatable Bears

Looking at the Bruins score from Thursday night may cause you to blink, squint and search for your glasses…but Chowdaheadz has confirmed that the Bs did in fact beat the Calgary Flames 9-0. It’s almost sad watching professional Hockey players get railroaded like a mismatched Pee Wee squad. Almost. The scoring sheet is so long it’s easiest to list in alphabetical order: Bergeron (2), Horton (2), Kelly, Krejci, Lucic, Paille, Seguin

The Bruins continue to humiliate each opponent they face, no matter who is in goal. Tuukka Rask stopped 25 shots to earn himself a shutout, playign very well this year in the shadow of Tim Thomas. Thomas also won something last night even though he did not play – Timmy won the Fan vote and will play in his 4th NHL All-Star game this year.

The Bs are the best team in sports right now. Period. They look like no one can beat them. It’s completely OK to start thinking about keeping that Cup they won in June. Speaking of the Cup, this Bruins play a Stanley Cup rematch against Vancouver on Saturday. Boston is reaching their peak just before the biggest game of the season. Be sure to tune in at 1:00 om ET to watch.

Bruins STILL Kicking Butt

I ran out of things to say about the Bruins over a month ago. The Bruins are unbeatable, Tim Thomas is a legend…etc etc. After beating the icy snot of out the Devils 6-1 down in the Dirty Jerz on Wednesday, the B’s come back to Boston for a showdown the Calgary at the TD Garden on Thursday night. After what the Bruins did to poor Marty Brodeur, I can’t imagine Miikka Kiprusoff slept much last night. Here’s to hoping the B’s smash in another six pack and I have to keep showering endless praise upon the boys in Black and Gold.

Bruins Show Guts, Win In Overtime

David Krejci scored 47 seconds into the game and the Bruins didn’t light the lamp again until Overtime, pulling out a gut wrenching 2-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday night. Less than a minute into OT Dennis Seidenberg threw the puck toward the net from the point and it looked like either Chris Kelly or Phoenix defenseman Derrick Morris tipped it down between Jason LaBarbera’s legs for the game ending score (Seidenberg was credited with the goal). The Bruins look simply unstoppable as of late and will enjoy a few days rest before playing the Stars in Dallas on Saturday night.
