Pouliot Scores Video Game Goal, Bruins Beat Canadiens

The B’s blew a 3-1 lead in the third but were able to eek out the win against their French-Canadien arch-rivals on Wednesday night thanks to Tyler Seguin’s game winner and staunch goal tending from Tim thomas during the shootout. The ultimate highlight of this contest came from former Montreal Canadien Benoit Pouliot. Pouliot got his name trending on twitter with this crazy video game-esque goal ion the 2nd period.

Another hot story from this game was the Montreal fans’ reaction to Zdeno Chara taking a puck to the face. The Canadiens fans applauded uproariously, sparking many questions about their class and integrity. As we know from the Vancouver riots last summer, many of our neighbors to the north take hockey a little too seriously and throw classiness/humanity to the wind.

Bruins, Celtics & Sox To Save The Day

The B’s topped the Capitals 4-1 and the Celtics beat the Grizzlies 98-80 on Super Bowl Sunday, giving Bostonians a little something to cheer about on this dreadful day after. We are lucky to live in a place where we can lose the Super Bowl and immediately look to our other teams to lift us up.

Plus, pitchers & catchers report in less than two weeks. Despite the rough end to last season, the Red Sox are still a stacked team that is one hundred percent in the hunt for the World Series. So, keep your chin up Beantown, we’ve got plenty to cheer for.

Seidenberg Center Ice Goal

Dennis Seidenberg scored from center ice to give the Bruins a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. Check out the crazy goal below. If the Bruins can score from center ice they must be destined to repeat as Stanley Cup champs. Just a theory.

Chara Picks All-Star Team

Zdeno Chara, one of two All-Star captains, selected Bruins Teammates Tim Thomas and Tyler Seguin to be part of his squad for Sunday’s NHL All Star game. Chara selected Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk with his first overall pick, citing his enchantment with the Russian’s scoring ability and skill. The NHL All-Star game comes at a great time for the busy Boston Bruins who get a full 5 days off the rest during the break.

Bruins Look Good Despite Loss

The Bruins may not have gotten the win against the New York Rangers, but there were plenty of positives to take away from Saturday’s game at the TD Garden. Boston was neck & neck with New York for 60+ minutes of hockey, until Andrew Ference was handed a 5 minute major & game misconduct 2 minutes into overtime. Thanks to several good saves from Tuuka Rask the Bruins almost killed the penalty to force a shootout, but the Rangers knocked in a scrappy goal with less than 4 seconds to go in the OT period. Boston lost because of a bad penalty and a fluky goal at the last second. And they are number 1 in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins are showing signs of being human by losing a handful of games in the last two weeks, but they still look like the League’s most complete team from where I’m sitting.

Resilient Bruins Score 4 In The 3rd To Demolish Devils

The Boston Bruins showed the heart that won them a Stanley Cup last year during Thursday night’s comeback win against the New Jersey Devils. After being stoned by Marty Brodeur all evening, the B’s came out firing in the 3rd period. Andrew Ference fired a rocket off the post and in to tie the game, then Nathan Horton & Gregory Campbell scored 35 seconds apart to take an widen the lead. Chris Kelly dumped in an empty netter to add insult to injury as your Boston Bruins showed exactly what they are made of in another signature win. Never giving up, the B’s were able to turn it on when it mattered most. Maybe the return of Brad Marchand (who was relatively quiet in this one) gave the Black & Gold their swagger back after a mini slump in which they lost 3 of 6 games following the controversial loss to Vancouver. But more so, it seemed like the resilient attitude that this Bruins team has become known for manifested itself on the ice in New Jersey. Games like this keep Stanley Cup repeat chatter alive in Beantown.

The Squirrel Returns

Brad Marchand will be back in the Bruins lineup on Thursday night to take on the New Jersey Devils after serving a 5 game suspension for table-topping Sammi Salo. Many Boston fans are still ticked over the length of his suspension, but most importantly Black & Gold supporters are ecstatic to have him back. The guy they call “Squirrel” is no stranger to controversy so don’t expect the suspension to alter his style of play: Marchand will be his usual, chippy self. The B’s could use a boost after losing 3 of their last 6 games so hopefully the feisty squirrel provides that spark.
