Celebrate Thanksgiving In “America’s Hometown”

Every year, on the weekend before Thanksgiving, the town of Plymouth, Massachusetts holds a very special celebration. As “America’s Hometown” and the place where Thanksgiving began, it is only natural that Plymouth should pay homage that legacy and the people who made it all possible.

The weekend of festivities that make up the Annual America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration is not only a beloved tradition, but a chance to honor our nation’s history and heritage.

The three-day celebration includes a concert series, food festival, harvest market, and a historic village set up in Brewster Gardens. Historians will be on hand to reenact significant scenes from our past.

The highlight of the weekend is the annual America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Parade, which chronicles the Pilgrim legacy from the 17th to the 21st centuries, and features military marching units, community groups, and an array of elaborately designed floats.

The mission of the event is to preserve the early history of our country, including the story of the very first Thanksgiving. America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration is also a chance to educate the public and honor those who have fought to protect the American way of life.

According to the event’s official Facebook page:

The celebration of Thanksgiving becomes history-brought-to-life as Pilgrims, Native Americans, Soldiers, Patriots, and Pioneers proudly climb out of the history books and onto the streets of Plymouth.
