The Tom Brady Effect is Real

Think the New England Patriots were a great team without Tom Brady? Yeah. They probably are. But let’s just put it this way, he proved he is a whole heck of a lot better than Jacoby Brissett. Yeah, I understand that’s probably the most obvious take I’ve ever had, by the way.  It’s just a point that has to be confirmed.

But just look at the Pats big win over the Buffalo Bills, 41-25 on the road. That’s 41 more points than they scored at home the last time they played the Bills. What’s the difference? Quarterbacks.

It was just a typical Tom Brady performance in the win. You know, typical Tom Brady: completing two-thirds of his passes, throwing for over 300 yards and four touchdowns. Yeah, that’s just how he does, yeah, chillin’ laid back straight stunting, yeah he does it like that, to paraphrase.

His passer rating is like 135 in his four games back. His completion percentage is over 70 percent. He’s thrown 12 TDs and no picks. Oh, and they’ve won all those games by double digits. Classic Tom Brady. Looking good. Real good. Hella good season for TB12, in fact.

You know he’s doing a good job when Jimmy Garoppolo gets in the game. They don’t just put in backup quarterbacks to put in backup quarterbacks. It’s a sign that the game is over.

It’s almost as if Brady is playing for his job, knowing Jimmy G played so well when he was healthy. He’s gotta keep that job somehow — not only this year but in the future, not that it ever really came into question.

The Pats have to feel good now though. And so do their fans. The man they admire is healthy and playing better than he ever has. He’s like fine wine or something. I don’t know. He’s good.
