Things to Do in Massachusetts for The 4th


Looking for some last minute plans for the holiday? Here’s some events going on:

Boston Harborfest
 – This festival got started on the 1st, but with over 220 events, I’m sure you can still find something for the next few day. Events include concerts, Revolutionary War reenactments, harbor cruises, guided tours of the city and historical buildings & ships, Chowdafest and of course, the Boston Pops concert and fireworks.

Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular
 – Catch the concert at the Hatch Shell starting at 8:30pm, and then fireworks over the Charles at 10:30.

Picnic in the Park
 – If you’re north of Boston, you might want to check out Concord
’s yearly tradition at Emerson Field starting at 10am with live music starting at 3pm. You can also catch the reading of the Declaration of Independence at North Bridge in Concord at 1pm.

New Bedford Folk Festival
 – If you’re looking for live music, up and coming artists or crafts, check out the New Bedford Folk Festival. It runs July 4-5  from 11am to 9pm in and around the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.

Independence Day Celebration
 – If you’re out in Western Mass, check out Amherst
’s July 4
 event. You’ll find a carnival with games and a pie-eating contest as well as the Amherst Community Band and fireworks.
