Monday was officially Opening Day at America’s oldest ballpark! Not only was the weather everything Bostonians have been yearning for, the ceremony was also perfection! They may have not had a banner to reveal, or rings to give out, but in true Red Sox fashion, they came out strong…Boston strong!
Tom Brady threw the first ceremonial pitch; after being handed the ball by marathon survivor, Henry Richard. Richard’s daughter, and sister of Martin Richard, led the park in the National Anthem with her Children’s Choir from Dorchester.
One of the coolest events yesterday happened for former BC Eagle and ice bucket challenger, Pete Frates. The Red Sox presented Frates with a contract; making him an official teammate of the 2015 Red Sox. During Spring Training, the Sox honored the ALS patient by wearing his #3 on March 3rd.
Oh yeah….after all that, there was a game!
The Sox dominated against the Washington Capitals; at one point they were ahead 8-0. Ultimately the score was 9-4. Newcomer, Mookie Betts was undoubtedly the star of the show! He stole two bases in the same game and also hit a 3 run homer! We clearly had to make a ‘You Betts Believe‘ tee!
It’s going to be a great season….PLAY BALL!
