Boston is Breaking Records (again).

What started out as an uneventful winter here in the Hub, has turned into the nastiest Winter we’ve seen in over 20 years. Boston has now got a total of 97.1″ for the season and it’s not over yet.  This 97.1″ of snow made us beat the 1993-94 season for the 2nd snowiest Winter on record.  The snowiest season on record is 1995-96; which had 107.6″….remember it’s only February!

February has already had 60.7″ of snow; which makes it the snowiest February in history. There is still another week of February left so that number could easily go up.  If we get another 9.7″ by the end of the season, Boston will have had the snowiest season EVER. For the shortest month of the year, February is certainly making a statement…

The snow around the city is making everyone crazy; from cancelled flights to non-working trains, snow banks higher than most people, to finding a parking spot – we’re all about to crack! All you have to do it follow tweets with the hashtag #MBTA and you’ll get a sense of what people are dealing with twice a day just to get to and from work!

As inconvenient as the snow may be, people here are still finding ways to have fun.  Also, in true Boston form, there is a sense of “we’re all in this together” which makes the day-to-day a little easier.  Might as well grab a pair skis, a sled or snowboard and live it up!

(If you want to remember this historical time, get this Tee of the Week today!)

I’m not advocating for more snow but I do like to break records so we might as well make it worth it, right?
