Lots of Activity at the Garden but No Win

A lot happened at Boston Garden last night but unfortunately a win was not one of those things.  The Islanders were in town; which meant Johnny Boychuk was back in Boston for the first time since being traded to New York on the eve of the season.  The Bruins welcomed him back with a tribute video for his part in the 2011 Stanley Cup championship.  Once he realized the video and subsequent cheering was for him, he acknowledged it with a smile and wave.

In addition to Boychuk’s return, the Garden paid a tribute to the tragedy that happened in Ottawa this week by playing singing the Canadian National Anthem and observing a moment of silence for the soldier who lost is life.

After the first period, the B’s captain, Zdeno Chara, did not return for the duration of the game with an undisclosed injury.  Coach Claude Julien said there was no update on the injury during his post game press conference.  It’s always tough for a team to lose a player let alone captain.  The 6’9″ defenseman, who has been a Bruin since 1996, has spends more time on the ice than other player.  Let’s hope this injury isn’t too serious and he’s back soon!

As far as hockey games go, this was a great one to watch!  The only thing that would’ve made it better, of course, would be a win.  The B’s eventually fell to the Islanders 3-2.
