If you haven’t checked out the Marathon Memorial at Boston Public Library, you’re not too late! The exhibit is located on the first floor of the BPL through May 11th and is free of charge. Much of the make shift memorial from last year’s events is on display inside for every one to see.
Running shoes have become the symbol of Boston and our ability to “Run On” after such a tragedy. The shoes that were left last year by runners and non-runners alike are on display again this year and are very moving!
Along with the shoes, there are messages of hope and support from all over the world! It was very moving (and crazy) to see how far the events of the 2013 Marathon reached across the world.
At the end of the exhibit, there were trees for people to write additional messages. At this point in the exhibit, there was not a dry eye in the room.
I went to the memorial the Saturday before the marathon and there were tons of people and events going on! After seeing the exhibit, it reminded me how lucky we are to not only call Boston home but how awesome our police, firemen and first responders truly are!
Be sure to check out the exhibit – you won’t regret it!
