Our beloved Papi expressed that he wants to retire a Red Sock; however it is up to the Red Sox whether they’ll make that happen or not…He said if Boston does not offer him another multi-year deal, “It’s time to move on.”
Ortiz has one year left on the two year extension he signed last Winter. When asked how long he planned to remain in the game, he answered vaguely, “It can be two years, it can be three years, it can be 10 years. You never know.” He went on to say, “But as I always keep on telling people, this is a business. Sometimes you’ve got to do what’s best for you and your family…As long as they keep offering me a job and I keep doing what I’m supposed to do and the relationship keeps on building up, I’m going to be there. Hopefully, I won’t have to go and wear another uniform.”
Selfishly we hope he stays in Boston – he’s been nothing but our beloved DH since the minute he got to Beantown…Red Sox Nation needs to ask,
“does he love me or is he teasing me?”
Do you think this is his way of planting the seen to get a long term contract from the ball club? Do you think he would really play in another uniform?
