Second baseman Dustin Pedroia has agreed to a 7-year, $100 million contract to remain on the Red Sox. The contract will end in the 2021 season when Pedroia will be 38 years old; potentially making the Red Sox the home for his entire professional career.
Though many other teams passed on him during the draft because of his 5’8″ stature, Pedroia has been a great asset to the Red Sox since day 1; helping clinch the World Series in 2007. Not only has he been a great and loyal player, it was also a great move for the Sox to secure his contract and prevent other teams from scooping him up (we’re look at you, Yankees!)
We’re excited to be hearing those “La Luna” calls for many more years, are you?
