Visit the Boston Harbor Islands

Go swimming with a view of the city!  Explore historic sites, watch wildlife, hike, kayak, picnic, fish, camp, the seasonal possibilities are seemingly endless when you visit the Boston Harbor Islands. Located a mere 20-30 minutes from downtown, most people arrive at the Boston Harbor Islands via a brief ferry ride from Long Wharf-North in Boston. This ferry system gets you to and from Georges or Spectacle Island quickly and easily and Thompson Island is served by its own ferry, from the EDIC Pier in South Boston.   There are also several spots for individual motorboats, sailboats, and sea kayaks to either drop anchor or come ashore.  On Thursday and Friday nights though Labor Day there are even authentic New England clambakes hosted by the folks at Jasper White’s Summer Shack.  For all you need to know about the Harbor Islands visit http://www.bostonharborislands.org/ and for the FAQ on a clambake go to, “Things To Do.”  Anchors away!
