With the Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games set for this evening, there’s no better time to meet the Bay Staters who will be representing the Commonwealth as well as our nation.

Shalane Flanagan, a 31 year-old from Marblehead will be running the Marathon; 26 year-old Kristin Hedstrom from Concord will be rowing in lightweight double sculls while Gevvie Stone a 27 year-old from Newton will compete in Single Sculls; Westonite, Will Newell, a 23 year-old rower will compete in Lightweight Fours; Shelley Olds, a 31 year-old from Groton and Evelyn Stevens, 29, from Acton will both ride in the bicycle road race;  Greenfield’s Elena Pirozhkova will freestyle wrestle; and 18 year-old gymnast, Alexandria Raisman, will be representing Needham.

Root, root, root for the U.S. of A, and particularly for our dedicated local athletes!
