Go To Art Beat in Somerville!

For 26 years now the city of Somerville, a magical place that in addition to being the original HQ for Whitey Bulger’s “Winter Hill Gang” boasts more artists per capita than anywhere else in the country with the exception of New York City, has hosted Art Beat. This year’s event, being held on Saturday in Davis Square, will feature an electic mix of music, dance, theater, food, performance and interactive activities with more than 80 regional and local craft and fine art vendors chosen to present their work. The theme for this extremely family-friendly seven hour event is, “Migration.” Things kick off on Friday evening with live musical performances on the Seven Hills Stage, conveniently located just behind the Davis Square Red Line station. Art Beat is the crown jewel of the Somerville Arts Council, an incredibly resourceful and creative outlet that probably adds more to the quality of life of the average Somervillian than they even know. For more on their good deeds visit www.somervilleartscouncil.org (we particularly recommend their food component, the aptly titled, “Nibble”) and for information specifically on Art Beat go to
