Bard To Become Red Sox Closer After All?

Once upon a time, Daniel Bard was considered the heir-apparent to Jonathan Papelbon as the Boston Red Sox closer. After Papelbon bounced to Philly, Andrew bailey was brought in to assume the role and Bard was taken out of the bullpen. As the Red Sox 2012 season goes on and Bard continues to struggle at his new job as a starter, Sox fans are wondering if he could become the team’s closer after all. Alfredo Aceves has been inconsistent as the shut-down guy and Andrew Bailey may not be back for awhile (he is still rehabbing after thumb surgery). Maybe manager Bobby Valentine will shake things up…by putting them back where they were supposed to be in the first place.
