Bobby Valentine has been forced to toy with the Red Sox lineup to account for injuries, but is he doing a good job? Red Sox fans seem rather divided on the subject. Adrian Gonzalez has been moonlighting in the OF and Kevin Youkilis has been shifting between 1st and 3rd to make room for Big Papi and Will Middlebroooks. Fresh faces like Scott Podsednik and Che-Hsuan Lin have been working their way into the outfield, too. Many Red Sox supporters have been calling for Gonzalez to find a more permanent home in either Right field or Left, while others think that having him run around in an unfamiliar position is outrageous.
Perhaps guys like Ryan Sweeney, Daniel Nava and Marlon Byrd can become every day players. Whatever the answer is, Sox fans would like to see more consistency on the lineup card, but this could take time. Valentine has been handed a tricky situation in his first year as Red Sox manager. Bobby V will have his hands full trying to accommodate for the losses of Carl Crawford, Jacoby Ellsbury and Cody Ross. Once one, two or all of those guys return Valentine’s job should get a whole lot easier.
