What a night at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox launched 6 Home Runs, including back-to back-to back jacks in the 7th.
Big Papi, Josh Reddick, and Salty went yard in 3 consecutive at bats against Pedro Viola, who failed to produce a single out with his 22 pitches.
Poor guy. When I was a little kid I had nightmares where monsters chased me.
Viola probably saw Wally the Green Monster in his dreams last night.
“Oh no it’s Wally!! Please don’t eat me!!!”
There were a couple of good pitching performances last night: both from guys in Red Sox uniforms. Potential savior of the rotation Andrew Miller was steady; going 5 innings giving up 3 runs to move to 3-0 on the season.
Perhaps even more impressive was Tom Willis, the man who threw out the first pitch using only his feet. Willis, a San Diego native, was born with no arms.
Great story. The actual pitch is at 2:28
The best part about last night? The Red Sox re-claimed 1st place in the AL East as the Yankees lost to the Rays in the Bronx.
It’s pretty amazing to see Boston in 1st with Carl Crawford, Clay Buchholtz and Jon Lester on the DL. Not to mention the horrendous production of big money players John Lackey and JD Drew. The key has been their incredible offense. Minus Drew, the Sox bats have been outstanding, as evidenced by the 10 runs last night.
Having the best hitter in the world certainly helps. Obviously Gonzo went deep last night.
When Buchholtz and Lester return from the DL after the All-Star break, this Red Sox team will look scary good.
