Patriots to face Green Bay backup QB

The New England Patriots having been playing some of the NFL’s best football this season so it was only a matter of time before the Patriots recieved a little luck, albeit at the disposal of one of the NFL’s brightest young quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers, health.

Rodgers suffered his second concussion of the season in last Sunday’s loss to the Detroit Lions, and did not receive medical clearance to play in Sunday night’s game against New England.

So the Patriots (11-2) will be facing Matt Flynn, a seventh-round draft pick out of LSU in 2008, as the former Tiger will be making his first career start at Gillette Stadium.

You can bet Bill Belichick is licking his chops with this matchup.

The Patriots will look to confuse Flynn with various packages and disguises in blitz and coverage.  Another thing that will get the Patriots and Belichick’s juices flowing for Sunday nights game is the fact that they can clinch the AFC East Title and a first-round bye in the playoffs with a victory over the Packers and a New York Jets loss.

There are also a couple of other scenarios for this too happen, but this is the most simple and also the most agreeable for Pats fans.

Patriots and Packers kickoff tonight at 8:30 p.m. at Gillette.

Prediction: Patriots 34-13
