A Manny Delcarmen meltdown in the 8th allowed the Rays to beat the Red Sox 9-4 last night in Boston. Delcarmen faced five batters, recording no outs and allowing all five to score as part of a six run 8th inning for Tampa. The Sox reliever also complained about soreness in his pitching arm to add to a long list of demoralizing injuries this week. Still, Boston gained significant ground in the AL East race in the month of June. They look to start off July strong on Friday against the bottom feeder Baltimore Orioles: who look like they couldn’t win a game in the Grapefruit League.
