Are the Celtics Really Up 2-0?

I woke up this morning and I had to pinch myself. Was it a dream? Did the Celtics really beat the Magic, in Orlando, again last night to go up 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals?

No, it wasn’t a dream. The Celtics beat the Magic, 95-92, last night in front of a stunned crowd at the Amway Arena.

Unlike Game 1, this game was close all night. The Magic played with more conviction, but it was the Celtics who ultimately out-played the Magic for the win. The Celtics defense held the Magic to just 39.4% from the field. The Celtics out-rebounded the Magic, 38-36. The Celtics had 7 blocks to Orlando’s 2. And the list goes on. All this without Celtics’ defensive star Kendrick Perkins who only played 15 minutes due to foul trouble.

Yes. The Boston Celtics are really up 2 games to none over the Orlando Magic. They have won the first two games of a seven game series on the road in the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. With these two wins, the Celtics have now won five straight playoff games in a row. They are are only two wins away from going to the NBA Finals for the second time in three years.

The series now heads to Boston for two games. The Celtics would love to win the series in Boston in front of their home crowd. Let’s slow down here. Do we really expect the Magic to give up that easily? We will have to wait and see. As long as the Celtics do not roll over like their hockey counterparts (not mentioning any names…Boston Bruins), then I don’t care how many games it takes to win this series.

Game 3 is scheduled for this Saturday at the TD Garden at 8:30 PM.
