In Cleveland. On the road. Series knotted up at 2. That was the scene last night for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. This was another must win for the Celtics and it was clear they were up for the challenge. The Celtics beat the Cavaliers, 120-88 for the worst home playoff loss in Cavs playoff history.
Lebron had an ‘off’ night. He scored 15 points on just 3 for 14 shooting. His first field goal came in the 3rd quarter. The Cavs were minus-22 with Lebron on the court.
Yes, Lebron was a stinker last night but you have to give credit to the C’s. The Celtics fed off of Paul Pierece’s (21 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists) aggresiveness and it set the tone for the rest of the game. They played great overall team basketball. Everyone got good looks at the basket. Pierce took 21 shots, Garnett took 14, Allen took 13, and Rondo took 12.
Celtics’ Team Stats:
1) The C’s held the Cavs to just 41 percent shooting.
2) The Celtics out-rebounded the Cavaliers 41-31.
3) The Celtics committed just 10 turnovers compared to the Cavaliers’ 17.
In Boston. In front of the Jungle. The Celtics now lead the series 3-2. The scene is set for Game 6 on Thursday night at 8:00PM.
