Red Sox Sign Hermida From Marlins

I haven’t really heard much about Jeremy Hermida since he got drafted in 2002.  He was considered one of the top outfielders in the draft that year (doesn’t mean diddly squat I know). Since then he has been somewhat of an underacheiver. He did post a .501 slugging percentage in 2007 (with a sample size of 429 AB) and in his last two season those numbers have come down quite a bit.

I see this as some insurance in case the Red Sox don’t sign Bay and he will be a very good 4th outfielder who could see some decent playing time regardless if Bay comes back.  He has played both left & right field. -Player Bio
