Boston Looks To Avoid Sweep

Sox Announce That Tazawa Will Start On Tuesday

The Boston Red Sox take on the New York Yankees Sunday evening looking to avoid a four-game sweep at the hands of their rivals.  With the offense putting up zeroes and the entire pitching staff overworked, the Sox announced that Japanese rookie Junichi Tazawa will take John Smoltz spot in the starting rotation and pitch on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers.

First things first, however, and that’s tonight’s game.  Jon Lester takes on Andy Pettite in hopes of avoiding the sweep.  Jason Bay is back in the lineup for Boston as David Ortiz takes a seat in tonight’s game against a lefty.

The Sox are rumored to have put a claim on Washington Nationals shortstop Christian Guzman who would help fill the hole the Sox currently have at short.  Guzman is batting over .300 and will be an instant offensive upgrade over Nick Green and Jed Lowrie.
